LOGSCOUNCIL and TRADELINK held the first DTTN
Seminar
(Hong Kong, 22 July 2005) The S-Logistics Project Group of Hong
Kong Logistics Development Council (LOGSCOUNCIL) and Tradelink
Electronic Commerce Limited (Tradelink) jointly held the first
seminar on Digital Trade and Transportation Network (DTTN) today.
The seminar aims to raise the general awareness of DTTN and make
the industry better positioned to benefit from the launch of the
DTTN services – as DTTN
promotes the use of e-commerce to the SMEs thereby helps them
to stay connected to the development of the global logistics industry.
The Digital Trade and Transportation Network (DTTN) is a neutral,
community infrastructure that is available for use by any organization
and its trading partners, so that information can easily be shared
along the supply chain. The DTTN allows any company to interconnect
quickly via one single, low-cost connection, facilitating automation
of supply chain transactions at minimal cost. It enables fast
and efficient communications, transactions and information-sharing,
serving business large or small involved in every aspect of trading.
Miriam Lau, Shepherd of the S-Logistics Project Group of the
LOGSCOUNCIL, in her welcome address during the seminar, said,
“The LOGSCOUNCIL and its Logistics Information Project Group
work hard to promote the direct participation of the community
and ensure a high level of neutrality and comprehensiveness of
DTTN, in order to achieve wide acceptance and support in the community
when DTTN is launched this year. As a member of LOGSCOUNCIL and
its Logistics Information Project Group, I am pleased to be involved
in the development of DTTN.”
Mr. Justin Yue, Chief Executive Officer of Tradelink, pointed
out that the initial development of DTTN is close to completion
and a comprehensive testing of the system will soon commence.
Mr. Yue said, “To demonstrate the values and benefits of
DTTN, we are now actively inviting companies with foresight to
join the first phase of our pilot program, which will take place
later this year. The program is also as a first step to build
the customer base of DTTN. As we all know, the key for DTTN to
succeed is to have the strong customer support in the trading
community.”
The seminar was well received by the industry. A number of guest
speakers, including Philip Lam, Vice President (Information Technology)
of Hong Kong Logistics Association, Cindy Ng, Systems Manager
of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, and Michael Yuen, Deputy
Director, Hong Kong of Exel Hong Kong Limited, shared with the
seminar participants on how the small and medium logistics companies
can benefit from DTTN.
Future seminars and promotional activities will be organised
to help the community to learn more about DTTN. For enquiries
