Digi-Sign enters into agreement with Law Society
to provide digital certificates for practicing members
(Hong Kong, 8th December 2005) Digi-Sign Certification Services
Limited (“Digi-Sign”), a wholly owned subsidiary of
Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited (“Tradelink”),
has entered into an agreement with the Law Society of Hong Kong
to issue digital certificates to over 5,000 members of the Law
Society who hold practicing certificates starting from the 2006
practicing year.
Digi-Sign has been keen to provide e-security solutions for various
institutions and organizations. The certificates issued by Digi-Sign
for the Law Society can identify the practicing status of each
solicitor member when exchanging documents that require digital
signatures with third parties.
According to the Law Society, it has spent great effort in evaluating
a system for its solicitor members to sign electronic documents
in such a way that the digital signatures of the solicitor members
can be used to verify the identity of the members as well as the
integrity of the signed documents.
Mr. Justin Yue, Chief Executive Officer of Tradelink, said, “The
co-operation between Digi-Sign and the Law Society of Hong Kong
signifies the milestone of digital certificate adoption for professional
individuals in the territory, establishing a model for other professional
organizations.”
“The benefits of the certificates are not only helping
clients to identify solicitor’s practicing status, but also
further promoting the electronic document exchange among the legal
practitioners as well as with the government and other commercial
entities,” Mr. Yue added.
