Real-Time Location System (RTLS)

Uses radio frequency to track and monitor tagged assets
Features:
  • Combines with Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to identify, track and locate the tagged items
  • Integrates and monitors real-time data from different devices/objects (including GPS location, temperature, humidity, vibration, brightness, motion, space utilization, etc.)
  • Controls devices remotely over the Internet
Benefits:
  • Provides real-time visibility of inventory and asset status
  • Enables big data analytics which help smarter business decisions be made for inventory control

Other Applications

IoT can be applied in various industries
Some applications examples:
Logistics industry

Load space and cargo condition such as temperature and humidity can be remotely monitored

Transportation industry

Vehicle and vessel movements can be monitored by location technologies and based on which, estimated time of arrivals can be provided

Healthcare industry

Wristbands connected with smartphones can tell heartbeat rate, steps taken and sleep pattern to encourage healthier behavior

IoT is not just about location checking

By building an auditable and transparent system, IoT enables a sense of accountability amid an ecosystem of parties to minimize the risk of human error and improve productivity

Success Story

IoT solution for a casino concessionaire to track and monitor over a million widely scattered asset items

Project Overview:

Tradelink deployed its IoT solutions to a casino concessionaire in Macau to manage assets used and stored at different premises in compliance with the licensing requirements. Using RFID technology, multiple items can be tracked and monitored simultaneously, thus facilitating regular stocktaking by the client of over a million items located at various sites including casinos, restaurants and shopping malls.

Benefits:
  • Significantly simplify the stocktaking process, saving time and cost
  • Enable staff to identify and track the real time status of items
  • Improve asset movement management by allowing staff to submit movement or disposal requests electronically and provide auditability of the asset movement and status
  • Reduce ongoing replacement costs with the use of durable RFID tags under intense environment, such as high-temperature kitchens, rooftops and unreachable spots
