Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited ("Tradelink", SEHK: 0536), as Hong Kong's representative member in the Pan Asian e-Commerce Alliance ("PAA"), attended the 53rd PAA Steering Committee meeting, hosted by PT. Electronic Data Interchange Indonesia (PT EDII) from 11th to 12th August 2016 in Bandung, Indonesia. PAA members from 11 economies focused their discussion at the meeting on new value-added service initiatives as well as new opportunities on cross border paperless trade.

At the welcome dinner, Mr Helmi Wantono, President Director of PT EDII, Mr Henri Soebiakto, on behalf of Minister of Communication and Informatics, and Mr Djatmiko, Chairman of Indonesia National Single Window Operating Agency, expressed warm welcome to PAA members and appreciation of the collaboration and contribution of PAA in enhancing trade facilitation and improving paperless cross border trade.

At his speech during the dinner, Mr. Francis Lopez, PAA Chairman, highlighted members' effort made to improve cross border trade process as more tailor-made and value-added services developed and implemented. "PAA is committed to cross border trade facilitation through various initiatives and continuous enhancement of our services across the value chain. For instance, we have been working closely with the international organizations on electronic Certificate of Origin and Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary certification." Mr. Lopez said.

The Pan Asian Exchange, PAA's B2B eMarketplace is progressing steadily and with products from nearly 10,000 companies now in its database, its key focus and priority in moving forward is on identifying a market niche and recruiting key buyers.

A highlight of the meeting was the discussions on collaboration with the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture who was keen to establish a seamless exchange of e-Certificate of Origin with PAA members and participate in the Pan Asian Exchange. Another interesting collaboration opportunity discussed at the meeting was the implementation of electronic CITES permits and cross border exchange of the permits as an initiative currently under deliberation with the CITES Secretariat.

Looking ahead, PAA has plan to start an initiative to explore the use of blockchain to help in trade logistics and finance.

The 54th PAA Steering Committee Meeting will be held in Thailand on 8th to 9th December 2016.
