VSHIP service renamed to Freight Quotation Service under Tradelink

With effect from 1 January 2021, Tradelink will take over the operation of VSHIP's bid and offer service which will be renamed to Freight Quotation Service (FQS) and integrated into Tradelink's Government Electronic Trading Services (GETS) as a value-added service.

Tradelink customers can enjoy the benefits brought about by the service integration. With the single sign-on feature, Import/Export Trade Declarations (TDEC) customers can submit Request for Quote (RFQ) and process TDEC using the same login ID and password. We have also introduced data inheritance function that facilitates customers to prepare TDEC using data inherited from RFQ to avoid repetitive input of common data fields hence saving time and reducing errors. The service integration aims to add value to our trade compliance services customers and address the operational needs of our customers.

With an aim to facilitate the interaction among shippers and logistics service providers, VSHIP was launched in October 2018 and since then has attracted more than 6,000 registered shipper / logistic service provider customers. Through a bid and offer mechanism and with a RFQ submitted, shippers can receive on average up to 4 freight quotes with clear breakdown from different service providers for easy comparison. Benefits to shippers include not only freight charge saving of up to 30% but also saving in time and effort to find logistic service provider of choice. As for logistics service providers they can reach new customers in a cost-effective way, achieving a win-win situation.

While the global logistics industry is going through digital transformation, FQS will continue to serve and bring values to Tradelink customers in its new positioning bringing greater synergy for Tradelink's businesses.
