Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited (“Tradelink”, SEHK: 0536), as Hong Kong’s representative member in the Pan Asian e-Commerce Alliance (PAA), attended the 49th Pan Asian e-Commerce Alliance (PAA) Steering Committee meeting, hosted by Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNeX) through its subsidiary company Dagang Net from 16th to 17th April 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
During the Welcome Dinner on the first day of the Steering Committee meeting, PAA also announced the launch of its business-to-business (B2B) e-marketplace, known as the Pan Asia Exchange (PAE). The honourable Dato’ Sri Khazali Ahmad, Director General of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and Datuk Syed Ali Alattas, President of the National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Malaysia were invited to the Welcome Dinner to launch the PAE.
PAE is an initiative of the PAA, an alliance formed by 11 service providers that are authorised by Customs and other trade regulatory agencies in their respective economies. Collectively, PAA members already have an existing customer base of over 340,000 users who are potential subscribers of this e-marketplace. Unlike other B2B e-marketplace, the newly-developed PAE is a trusted B2B platform that can verify Asian suppliers through their official trade transactions, giving global buyers a sense of confidence in the reliability of their partners.
PAA Chairman, Mr. Francis Lopez, in his speech at the PAE launch ceremony, highlighted the huge opportunity for PAA to take leadership in the growing B2B e-commerce market segment. Riding on the digital wave, the PAE is well positioned to tap the USD 6.7 trillion e-commerce market by 2020*. In 2014, the 11 members’ economies contributed 80% of the total USD 5.5 trillion in exports in Asia. Leveraged on members’ experience and domain knowledge in the e-commerce industry, PAA seized the opportunity to develop PAE as a trusted e-marketplace.
The 50th PAA Steering Committee Meeting will be held in Macao from 20th to 21st August 2015.
